LAWTON OF LAWTON PART II Below is an excerpt from The History of the County Palatine and City of Chester by George Ormerod, LL.D., F.S.R. & F.S.A. (originally published 1819; revised in 1882 by Thomas Helsby). Notice the reference to the documents of Frank Renaud, esq. M.D., which are presented in Part I of this section. It is presumable that the following section was compiled in the Second Edition by Thomas Helsby, as Renaud's research was not completed until 1873. Frederick Brown Lawton said of Ormerod's history of the early Lawtons, "[it] is considered to be the most authentic and the fullest. This history of many families is an elaborate work of expansive pages in three volumes. It is available in many public libraries."
